Brief Summary

Hackemon 2.0 Capture the Flag (CTF) was the second edition of the cybersecurity competition organized by the Coding Club of RVCE. Held offline on June 19, 2026, for over four hours, the competition featured 34 custom-designed technical challenges hosted on a customized open-source CTFd platform. The event recorded over 9,239 total submissions and 826 correct solves, successfully creating an engaging and collaborative educational environment that promoted hands-on technical learning.

Theme

The central theme of the event focused on providing foundational and practical exposure to basic domains of cybersecurity and computer science. By structuring challenges in a beginner-friendly manner, the event aimed to introduce participants to real-world technical problem-solving and critical thinking. Competitors applied their skills across multiple core cybersecurity verticals, including Cryptography, Network Security, OSINT, Reverse Engineering, Steganography, and Web Exploitation

Number of Participants and From Which Year

The competition saw active participation from 148 students who were organized into 63 teams. The primary target audience consisted of first-year engineering students from RV College of Engineering. The event structure balanced difficulty levels to remain highly accessible to these first-year beginners while still offering sufficient depth to engage second-year students and more experienced participants.

Prize Pool if Applicable & Winners

An awards ceremony was held on the same day as the competition to formally recognize the top performers. Recognition and awards were presented to the top three teams based on their overall points and performance. According to the final standings, team MK 47 secured the top position with 5,360 points, followed by team WeAreTrying in second place with 4,800 points, and team FreakyNikki in third place with 4,200 points.
