Gotta Train ‘Em All 2026
“Gotta Train ’Em All” was an online Kaggle Machine Learning Competition organized by the Coding Club of RVCE for first- and second-year BE students. The 36-hour competition involved teams of two solving a dual-task machine learning problem using a custom Pokémon dataset. Participants worked on both Pokémon classification and weight prediction while tackling real-world data science challenges such as class imbalance, missing data, label noise, and distribution shift. The event provided practical exposure to competitive machine learning, feature engineering, model evaluation, and the Kaggle platform.
Theme
The event was centered around machine learning, data science, and AI-driven problem solving, using a Pokémon-themed dataset to make industry-relevant ML challenges engaging and accessible. Participants were required to perform multi-objective optimization involving both classification and regression, while dealing with realistic issues such as missing values, noisy labels, class imbalance, and unseen data distributions.
Number of Participants and From Which Year
The competition was open to first- and second-year BE students of RVCE interested in machine learning, data science, and AI-driven problem solving. The event was conducted in teams of two. The report does not specify the total number of participating students or teams.
Prize Pool if Applicable & Winners
The event had a total prize pool of Rs. 8,000. The report does not specify the names of the winners or the distribution of the prize money.
Judging / Evaluation if Applicable
Submissions were evaluated using a combined metric consisting of 50% Macro F1-score for the classification task and 50% normalized RMSE for the regression task, with a perfect combined score of 1.0. The competition used a public leaderboard based on 30% of the test data during the competition, while the remaining 70% formed a private leaderboard that was revealed after the deadline to reduce overfitting.
